The Jane Doze and Site Updates

You're looking at the faces of The Jane Doze, a particularly good mashup duo out of NYC. I've followed them somewhat, but they dropped a completed mixtape, called Girls Talk, including 6 new mashups yesterday. They've made a huge splash and great reviews. Found some gems in there myself, hence, I chose to feature them here. More on site updates on the bottom.

First Jane Doze here is my personal favorite. Very creative and diverse artists brought together. Glitchy in parts, takes the best out of Deadmau5's masterpieces. Funky in other parts, this song will get you going.
Glad You Raised Your Weapon - The Jane Doze

Next song here is quite old, but a sure beauty. Have had this song on repeat for the last day now. I Have been looking for a sweet mashup of Ellie Goulding's beautiful vocals. While labeled a dubstep, you'll hear that this one touches that fine line between true dubstep and electronic, a niche I do much enjoy. And you will too.
Your Song - Ellie Goulding (Blackmill Dubstep Remix)

As I've probably mentioned before, I'm a huge B.o.B fan. It seems like he never misses. I've been with him from the beginning, since his B.o.B vs. Bobby Ray mixtapes, and have been with him ever since. He has veered more into the mainstream, doing songs with Lil Wayne for his new album coming out in May. This one was released recently, generating a lot of buzz for what will be on the new album.
So Good - B.o.B

The band Fun. has burst onto the scene, at least in my narrow view. A very playful indie-pop band, several members come from The Format, a band with similar sounds, and which fits nicely into the Ben Folds category. This rousing song will be your blood pumping, and teens will find many lines that really resonate with them.
Some Nights - Fun.

Continuing with The Jane Doze, one of the great things is their free downloads. This song is on a different wavelength from the pervious song, a bumpin track featuring chillstep song Saeglopur by Sigur Ros and some laidback raps. Song reminds you of a breezy summer night. If only.
Replacement Ros - The Jane Doze

About the site updates. As Jacob pointed out last post, we've started a partnership with the blog Beatfind, a great blog that I think everyone can enjoy. We are always looking to improve your music experience, it's actually the first question I ask myself in the morning. Thus we will be reaching out to blogs we personally like and see where we can get more partnerships going to give you more great music.

The header is up for changes, we're experimenting with what looks best. Got some ad placements around the site, and will be playing with those to see what works. May be restructuring the posts as a whole. Lots of work and changes ahead. Stay tuned.

Beatfind

I've got exciting news for the Musings and Mashups community today. We recently partnered with a blog called Beatfind. I recommend you all check out the blog right here as it was created with the same intentions as us, just posting good music.

So on to the music for this weekend!

I've been waiting a long time (a couple months) for another hot Wiz Khalifa track, and finally he delivers. I love the flow in this track; it makes it hard to not bob your head to the beat. Worth about 5 listens so show that play button some love.
My Favorite Song - Wiz Khalifa ft. Juicy J

Another song that caught my ear is this new Santigold track with the original Santigold feel, Disparate Youth. I'm always a fan of Santigold's style and she never seems to disappoint. I remember listening to her famous song "Creator" and being confused and entranced at the same time. Give it a listen.
Disparate Youth - Santigold

So if you have been following other blogs in the music community, you have probably given Nero's dubstep Must Be The Feeling. The original isn't very exciting but it seems everyone and their mother has made a remix. I finally found my favorite of all the remixes, and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I have. It's not wobble dubstep, just some sexy synths.
Must Be The Feeling - Nero (Brookes Brothers Remix)

The last song ( I know, so sad) I have today is a remix of Madonna's song Give Me All Your Love by Laidback Luke. It makes listening to Madonna enjoyable and totally not weird. Skeptics, take a listen.

Happy Music

Who could resist with a title like that?

Ahhhh, it feels good to be writing in here again. After an awesome and thrilling vacation, I was itching to see what music the world had produced in the week I was gone. And boy was I happy. In addition to these, I did find a handful of similarly awesome chill/reflective songs, which I will be featuring in my next post. Good times ahead.

All these songs will make you move, make you dance, make you smile, make you lean back in your chair, utterly satisfied. The cool thing is how each are different, yet make you feel those same, euphoric, happy feelings.

First song here is by house producer Michael Mayeda out of Sin City. The song begins inconspicuously enough, but then launches into a mouth-smacking intro that makes you come rigidly to attention, while you are thinking to yourself, "Damn, this is gonna be awesome." Song then proceeds into glitched-out, wonderful sounds.
Perfect Ending - Michael Mayeda

Now I've never been a Sean Paul fan. Really I've only heard his hit song "Temperature" and that's about it. You can't understand a thing coming out of his mouth in that song by the way. Despite my trepidation however, I got hooked onto this track by DJ Wood. He calls this song's genre Ghetto Funk, and I couldn't think of a better label.
Get Bendy - DJ Wood

A new genre sweeping (maybe not sweeping) the blogosphere has been electro-swing. I'm excited. Electro-swing combines the big brass elements of 1920s swing with trance/electro beats of its own. Think that won't make a song that will get your feet bouncing? Think again, my friend.
Catgroove - Parov Stelar

Myndset has been a regular in the remix genre for awhile. He doesn't drop songs often, but when he does, they might as well be atom bombs, as they always light up the 'sphere. This one has a long buildup, where you are only vaguely aware it is happening, but at the drop, the good vibes emanating from your speakers will overload your ears. Enjoy.
Kick Out the Full Access Motherfucker - MYNDSET

Spine-tingling vocals. Check. House/trancestep epicness. Check. Goliat is on to something with this track. Suddenly in the middle I realize I should be looking up at the brilliant stars above also. I dare you not to like this one.
Million Stars Come Out - Goliat

A strange phenomenon is listening to a song, not liking it, then listening to it again, decide it's alright, and then a few listens later, you suddenly can't get enough of it. This is my story with this track. The Two Friends drop this remix, and as I've gushed before, I can't get enough of their stuff.  This song will grow on you as well, especially the absolutely heavy, gritty, electro parts.
Best of Me - Carousel (The Two Friends Remix)

Lots of tracks for everyone today, I stumbled on some goldmines today while looking for music. I hope these songs made you get up and dance.

Till next time,

-Luke

The Radio

What's up followers and newcomers? If you are interested in this blog you probably have some aversion to the radio; I mean they play the same three songs on repeat for a week, change out one of the three songs and loop the "new" songs until you can't take Katy Perry's auto-tuning anymore. Good thing we all follow Musings and Mashups where we bring you music that's different EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS.

I'm rambling again, on to the music.

So the featured song I bring to you today is a remix of an Alesso song brought to us by a group called Project 46. This song is exactly what I look for in a progressive house track: good lyrics, a buildup, and plenty of kick drum. No download available yet but I'm sure they will release one as soon as they "officially" release this banger.
ID - Alesso (Project 46 Praise You Edit)

This next song is different from what I think I usually bring to this site. It's mellow to the point that you might question my manhood but once the drums kick in and the syncopated beat drops, you are going to want to move. Thank you Sir Lancelot. And don't forget to support Goldroom and give him a like on Facebook for a free download
We Can Dance - Lancelot (Goldroom Remix)

Still reading? Cool, well you all have heard of Zeds Dead by now, their original dubstep feel has swept over the music world. I must have skipped over this Reremix they did (yeah a remix of a remix) about a month ago. If you haven't checked out their new 4 song EP click their name on the soundcloud plugin and check them out. Zeds Dead Baby.....Woooommmppp
Divine - Sebastian Tellier (Danger Remix) (Zeds Dead ReRemix)

The last song for today is an old tune my friend showed me from the producer Illinoize who completely remixed Outcast's lyrics into a sick track. The best part about this song is the bassline that makes this song pure quality. Fans of all types of music can enjoy this masterpiece.
Dumb I Sound - Illinoize

Before I go, I've been listening to a lot of mixes recently and one that my friend showed me really caught my ear. Gian Varela masterfully combines some of my favorite house tracks into 30 minutes of addicting synths.

The Meaning of Life

Just kidding. I don't have the answer to that one, just got some killer music, and I wanted to get your attention. Now that I've got it, and before I lose it, I'll get right to the music.

Everyone's favorite indie-turned pop sensation, Foster the People. You just can't resist. St. Lucia, who's label is making a splash, drops this wonderful track. Remix works right alongside the original. Dig it.
Don't Stop - Foster the People (St. Lucia Remix)

If you don't know of any material by the producer 3LAU...then I just don't know what to say. He dropped a series of "We Found House" remixes, all targeting a similar, yet slightly different audiences. Here's my favorite, the Progressive Bootleg version. Enjoy.
We Found House - 3LAU

Wherever you turn in the blogosphere, you're going to hear of Kavinsky. The French producer/DJ seems to be everywhere these days. This song, all instrumental, takes the fusion of orchestra and electronic to a new level.
Roadgame - Kavinsky

Every wondered about that intro song in the hit medical show House? Well, Musings and Mashups has got your back. I've been vibeing to this song for a few days now, and cannot seem to get enough of it. Massive Attack's chill, yet overtly epic sound is intoxicating.
Teardrop - Massive Attack

This final song is one I've been itching to post for a few weeks now. The sound is really like nothing I've heard before. I couldn't group it into a genre if I tried. It's just an addictive, heavy, tribal sound. Get hooked.
Default - Django Django

Oh and about the picture above. I'm going on vacation tomorrow, that's the scene I'll be looking at for six glorious days. Keep it real.

What's the Point of Winter Without Snow?

What's up guys! I know... I've missed you too. So I've been browsing my sources the past few cold snowless days and these are the songs I've enjoyed the most. I hope you guys will too. If you are new here, check out music you may have missed; Luke and I go hard on each and every post. Also, if you haven't already, give us a like on Facebook. Maybe one day when this blog starts getting thousands of visitors every hour, you can tell all your friends how cool you are that you were the first to find out about this blog.

The first song I bring to you today is a bumping house remix of the recently popular Somebody That I Used To Know track by Gotye. This song really caught my ear because dBerrie did an amazing job keeping the original feel of the song while climaxing as well as any house song out there.
Somebody That I Used To Know - Gotye (dBerrie Remix)

Every time I would hear a Niggas In Paris remix I would shake my head and question whether or not there is a God. The truth is, 99/100 of the remix attempts of this song are just plain terrible. Good thing you follow Musings and Mashups as I bring to you today the only good remix I have ever found. The Miami Ski Team combined some classic Bingo Players' house music with Kanye and Jay-Z's lyrics (especially Kanye saying CRAY).
Niggas With a Rattle (Miami Ski Team remix)

Do you like Wale? Cool, me too. If not, maybe you can start liking him right here, right now. The Hood Internet really has their stuff together when it comes to mashups. Combining Wale lyrics with Kavinsky's Nightcall makes a pretty sweet track. Check it out.
Nightchain - The Hood Internet

Stop it. Stop it Adventure Club, we can't keep featuring your music week after week, so stop making such sick dubstep. I don't know how the Adventure Club went from the Foxes' original song Youth to the final product they just blessed us with.
Youth - Foxes (Adventure Club Remix)

Until we meet again

I Love Music

It's just really awesome sometimes. Nowadays, all I need is a computer and the entire world of music is opened up. Days like today, I opened my computer up and by the time I closed it, I had listened to many songs I loved and heard every artist I posted below for the first time. Love it when things work out like this.

We are experimenting with the design here, trying to incorporate more Soundcloud plugins instead of hulkshare players. We won't have to go through the trouble of uploading the files ourselves, and the plugin is much prettier. Expect some changes in the site's layout while we find what works best.

Starting out is awesome rap which took me back to the early days of B.o.B, one of my favorite rappers. Head bumping beats, authentic lyrics, and I would venture to say that rappers produce their best material when they are trying to get noticied, speaking straight from the heart, not to any crowds.
Gimme - DONNIS feat. BSBD

Next up is one of the best chilled out electro songs I've heard in a long time. If you don't bump your head and tap your feet while listening to this, you are probably not human. One of the disadvantages of going through Soundcloud is less access to downloadable content, but there are some songs just too awesome to not post.
Balearic Incarnation - Dolle Jolle

This song is by producer GZUS who has some very interesting stuff, ranging all genres. It's very hard to pull off the sincere, heartfelt remix, which GZUS pulls off on a regular basis. Down to earth beat with dream-pop lyrics. Get lost in Pictures.
Pictures - Benjamin Francis Leftwich (GZUS Remix)

It's hard to sound sincere these days. That's why you'll notice that I'll describe a lot of the music I post here as sincere. I can't really put words to it, but by listening to music, both good and bad, there's a certain sound you hear in fake, insincere songs, especially in the indie genre. That's why when you find a band like Lady Danville, you need to hold on for dear life because what they produced is truly something special in an ocean of mediocre music.

Honesty

Welcome music lovers, we have some exciting news today. Our new friend over at Settipalli Productions let us preview this gem of a track "Kick Down On Me". As soon as I started listening I was hooked, but then more and more songs built up quickly into an absolute banger that I can't get out of my head. From personal experience I know how hard it is to combine multiple songs together but Mr. Settipalli transitions flawlessly throughout the 5 minute track. Give our friend some love on his Soundcloud below.

I'm gonna be honest, I heard some of Wolfgang Gartner's old music about a year ago and thought nothing of it. People couldn't get enough of this guy, but I really didn't see what the hype was around this electronic artist. If you haven't already fallen in love with Wolfgang, take a listen to this unreal electronic beauty and become a new fan.
There and Back - Wolfgang Gartner

I guess this post is going to be all about honesty as Big Sean is very hit or miss for me. I love some of his songs but at the same time I think some of his songs are garbage. Good thing this song is one of his good ones. Relaxing feel? Check. Good Lyrics? Check. Lupe Fiasco? Check.
Don't Wait For Me - Big Sean ft. Lupe Fiasco

The last song I have for you today is a mashup by Messiah Mashups. I've heard many of this guy's songs and I recommend you go and search him up on Soundcloud because he has some serious talent. A great mashup of dubstep and rap with nice transitions.
Embrace The Duckstep - Messiah Mashups

P.S. Try to name all the songs in the two mashups. I bet that you can't.

P.P.S. Second Semester = more time for blogging
